About the building

The Hamburger Speicherstadt is a significant symbol of economic strength and architectural heritage, and not only regionally. With its numerous historic warehouse buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and its distinctive functional, structural and urban layout of buildings, streets and Fleete (canals), it forms the largest uniformly designed warehouse ensemble in the world and has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015.

And this could be exactly THAT: your future office.

The former Maschinenzentralstation once supplied the buildings and conveyor systems of the Speicherstadt with energy, together with the neighbouring Kesselhaus. After being destroyed twice, by a fire in 1891 and by an aerial bomb during the Second World War, the building was rebuilt in the 1950s in the spirit of the time, with a smaller footprint.

The western section of the building, M 29, was not rebuilt. The unique opportunity to combine the existing historic building fabric with a newly constructed, modern section, together with the considerable urban planning significance of the project, led to an architectural competition being announced in 2016. The winning design is now to be realised, and a suitable use is being sought for it.

See for yourselves: the office space has above-average ceiling heights, an outstanding location on the Elbe and a genuine loft character with plenty of charm.

Curious? Let us take a look inside (at what can already be seen at this point in time). Completion is scheduled for the end of 2024.
