About the building

Between Hamburg Ottensen and Bahrenfeld you will find the strikingly attractive Kolbenhof site. Work here used to be hard and loud. The Hamburg Kolbenschmidt works produced ship pistons and pistons for cars on this site. The location grew along with its tasks, until it was shut down in 2009. From 2025, the centre of the campus will house flats, offices and craft businesses as well as a range of restaurants and cafés.

Halle 6 retains its red brick and thus reflects both its origins and its purpose: this was, and will continue to be, a place of work. Its extension takes up the large windows, linking old and new and creating a courtyard that supplies both sides with light and air. And plenty of it!
