The client

Bauwens Construction GmbH & Co. KG is a construction company headquartered in Cologne, founded among others by grandsons of former chancellor Konrad Adenauer. When they first got in touch, the Hamburg team was still working from a coworking space.

The brief

The brief was a historic building with modern features, a revitalised period property of around 500 m². The location was to be in the city centre, though deliberately not in a prime location such as Jungfernstieg or Neuer Wall.

The search

A total of three properties were viewed: the Brahmskontor, the Esplanadebau and the Burstahhof. During the viewing at the Burstahhof it was already clear to everyone involved: this is the ideal property, a listed period building dating from 1888.

The result

Bauwens moved into the 4th floor of the Burstahhof with approx. 411 m². The space was only altered in a few places and adapted for Bauwens.
