About the building

STREIT’S HAUS on Jungfernstieg is one of Hamburg’s most historic buildings and looks back on an eventful past. Today it accommodates modern office and retail space in Neustadt, close to Gänsemarkt and Große Bleichen. Located directly on the Binnenalster, the property offers tenants a prestigious address with excellent visibility. Public transport connections are excellent: underground stations, bus routes and the Hauptbahnhof can all be reached within a few minutes.

Originally founded as a hotel in 1837 and rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1842, the building quickly became one of the city’s leading addresses. Its notable conversion into a commercial office building (Kontorhaus) in 1909 introduced technical innovations such as paternoster lifts. The complex today comprises approximately 14,000 m² of lettable space and offers a mix of office and retail areas. The office space features high ceilings with stucco elements, large windows providing plenty of daylight, and modern fit-out. A particular feature is the 500 m² planted roof garden in the courtyard, which serves as a quiet area in the middle of the city.
