About the building

The HOLZHAFEN OST office building is regarded as a milestone in the redevelopment of Hamburg's Elbe waterfront. In 2002 it was named Building of the Year by the Architektur- und Ingenieurverein Hamburg. Anyone who likes the Elbe will love this exceptional location. With its meandering form, the renowned Dutch architect Kees Christiaanse has created a maximum number of sightlines towards the Elbe, making incomparably efficient use of the front-row position on the river. The building front facing the Elbe literally stands in the water. The Holzhafen is Hamburg's oldest harbour basin and lies directly next to the Hamburger Fischmarkt.

The basic structure, modelled on Hanseatic Kontorhäuser, is combined with generous window areas and terraced courtyards.
